The Pre-Casting phase of the show consists of two rounds held over two days at the Lycée Aline Mayrisch in 38 Bd Pierre Dupong, 1430 Hollerich Luxembourg. Passing both rounds is mandatory for participation in the show.

During the first day of Pre-Casting, candidates are asked to bring an identification document (identity card or passport) and a parental authorisation (only for minors; autorisations will be sent by mail to the candidates concerned). The applicants are then required to complete individual and team tasks without any specific preparation. They may be visible to the applicants or work behind the scenes.

The second round of pre-casting will involve brief interviews with the casting team. The applicants will be asked various questions, including their motivation for participating in the show. The casting team will select up to 30 best applicants who can then participate in the first episode of the show: the casting episode.

This contract, among other, prohibits them from discussing any aspect of the show with any person that is not involved in the show, including the challenges and their own position, until the official broadcast in 2024. Additionally, candidates are required to be available for all filming periods as determined by the production company. Failure to adhere to these contractual obligations may result in the imposition of a penalty or fine.

About the project

Following the sustained success of "Pisa Wëssensmagazin" and its character "Mr. Science," which was co-produced with the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), the FNR has now partnered with the André Losch Foundation (ALF) to take it a step further and produce Take-Off, a Science Game Show that places the young generation in the spotlight.
To ensure that our show format reaches our target audience, we place special emphasis on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, as well as "Video on Demand" (RTL Play, YouTube).
In conjunction with the show, educational resources, such as explanatory videos and articles, will be developed for schools in collaboration with SCRIPT and published on the science.lu webpage to support and motivate teachers to replicate scientific challenges in their classrooms.
Take-Off is a collaborative initiative between the André Losch Foundation (ALF) and the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), and RTL will broadcast the show on their TV channel. Take-Off draws inspiration from the successful Estonian show Rakett69, now in its 14th season. The format is developed in Estonia and funded by the European Social Fund through the Estonian Research Council and the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Estonia.
The show in Luxembourg will be produced by a collaboration of three agencies, FreeLens TV, Brainplug, and TV MOAST Creative Studio. Kvark is the company that provides the science challenges for the show.
